Free Democrats Ireland

Putting People Before State

Our Story :

"Putting People Before State "...FDI is a pro-liberty advocacy group, supporting free enterprise, fighting for tax reform, protection of free speech, empowered individuals and communities, limited government, peace, prosperity and opportunity for all.

Founded in June 2019 and held it's first meeting in July 13th in Portlaoise.

Our Mission :

  • Free Democrats Ireland as a pro-liberty political group will promote the message of liberty in society and civic and political life.
  • We set out to achieve this by seeking to develop as a 'go to' source for media both traditional and social and to the population at large for views, opinions and policy ideas that challenge the mainstream.
  • FDI are a group that will promote limited government, tax reform, personal freedom and to demand that the state carry out it's main role, ie to protect individual rights equally before the law.
  • That this will be done initially through social media and develop to mainstream media, lobbying and influence of general opinion, which will promote and support like minded political candidates and causes.
  • We will through a strong membership offer ourselves as available, willing and able to campaign, fundraise and actively work towards the support of causes, individual political candidates and work with various community and voluntary groups to promote and work towards our aims and for the greater good of society.
  • We believe that such a movement is needed to break the current lack of intellectual argument and alternative political opinion in Ireland and to persuade as many people as possible to embrace the concepts of liberty, individual rights, limited government and free markets as the solution to all issues of the day both political and social.

Core Principles of the Free Democrats :

FDI believe that all individuals are endowed with natural born rights to life, liberty, property, and the open opportunity to seek prosperity and happiness for themselves and their families, the states main role is through the judicial system to protect these and not to act against them

FDI Believe that all Individuals are entitled to personal freedom, freedom of speech , expression, association, belief, conscience and in the natural autonomy of the individual & their families, empowered within their own community as the core of a free society

FDI reject all state imposed social engineering or imposition of values upon our society or in the education system.

FDI see the need to limit the power of the Irish state and it's interference in individual freedom, to this aim we believe in a society of freedom under law with limited government.

FDI believe in Free trade, free enterprise, free markets, unencumbered with state interference and that Individuals should be self reliant, independent, personally responsible and accountable for their actions.

FDI defend the right of productive people to keep what they earn, against politicians and bureaucrats who would seize their earnings to transfer them to political clients, cronies or use on corporate bailouts. We commit to eliminating and reducing all income related taxation.

FDI believe that Individuals should have the right to protect themselves, their family and homes from external force and coercion.
